B.Des is increasingly becoming many students' choice after 12th. Its worth largely depends on the specialisation you go for. Fashion Designing, Communication, Apparel Designing, Graphic Designing, and UX/ UI are all the most popular specializations of the B.Des course in India. The college's reputation also plays a role in determining a course's 'worth' in India. But even if you go to a tier-3 college, you can still apply to top companies if you match the skill requirements.

By the name B.Des is more on the designing/artistic side. Whereas BFTech is more into dealing with technical aspects of producing fashion products. The former combines creative vision, paired with functionality and aesthetics in fields like - fashion, UX/UI, Graphics etc. The latter is technical, managerial and production-intensive by nature.

Design is a growing field in India. Students are increasingly drawn towards design courses. One such course is B.Des. B.Des comes in different specializations with plenty of opportunities in the job market. Given that you hold a strong portfolio, skillset and experience.

B.Des equivalent in most countries abroad could either be BFA or BA in different domains of design. The scope after such courses is pretty decent in foreign countries as well.

Please note that the industry can seem saturated at start but with consistency and efforts you can land good jobs & good pay in both spectrums.
