For B.Des Interior and Furniture Design at UID NCR (Unitedworld Institute of Design), the first semester typically includes foundational subjects. You'd expect courses like Basic Design (Elements and Principles), Visual Arts and Drawing, Introduction to Materials and Processes, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) basics, and possibly an Introduction to Design History or Context. As for books, students are usually provided with reading lists or advised on reference books by faculty, rather than being told to 'take' specific textbooks beforehand. It's often a mix of prescribed and recommended readings.

For BFA, consider Rabindra Bharati University (Kolkata), Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi), Sir JJ College of Applied Art (Mumbai), and the Faculty of Visual Arts at BHU (Varanasi). For BDes, MIT Institute of Design (Pune), Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology (Bangalore), and RV University (Bangalore) are good options.

The JMI B.Des entrance exam has two stages: a written test and a portfolio review with an interview. The written test includes topics like general knowledge, drawing skills, design aptitude, logical reasoning, and English comprehension. To prepare, focus on sketching, creative thinking, current affairs, and building a strong design portfolio. Practice with NID/NIFT materials and reasoning books.
