Shortlisted candidates have to appear and qualify Management Stimulation Game (MSG), JKBS written aptitude test (WAT), and Personal interview (PI). Final selection is based on the scores of CAT/MAT/CMAT/ATMA/XAT/GMAT, academic merit and performance in MSG, WAT, and PI.

The cutoff trend for BTech at BMS College of Engineering is towards decrease in the recent years. In 2022, the closing rank for BTech. under general category for all India quota was 2065. In 2023, it decreased to 1903. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 2065 to 1903 for OBC 2065 to 1903 for SC 2065 to 1903 for ST 2065 to 1903 for EWS 2065 to 1903 for PWD. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

The applicants need to have a degree or diploma in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical engineering from a recognized institute to apply for the post.
The age limit is usually 18 to 32 years, with some relaxation for reserved categories.
CSE/IT/EEE are not eligible for SSC JE.ould have B.E/B.Tech. Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university to fulfill the SSC JE Educational Qualification requirements.
