The selection criteria for the B.E. / B.Tech courses at Tamilnadu College of Engineering (TCE) are mainly based on the candidate's performance in entrance exams. For candidates seeking admission under the Tamil Nadu state quota, the admission process is carried out through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) based on the candidate's Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with no separate entrance exam required. The score of JEE Main will be taken into consideration for candidates applying under All India quota. The college follows the reservation policy of Tamil Nadu government in respect to SC, ST, OBC, and other categories.

In order to seek the admission into B.E./B.Tech from the D.K.T.E. Societies' Textile and Engineering Institute, a candidate is obligated to apply for CAP and must pass through the admissions and other related processes. Initially, candidates are required to face entrance examinations such as MHT CET and JEE main.
