Instead of contacting the university, direct contact your admission center where you had taken admission as they will help you better. Even if you have a provisional certificate, you don't have to worry as with it's help, you can apply anywhere.

You should go for MA in English or MA in sociology for the same. But, I will suggest you for MA sociology as it will offer you a lot of options as compared to MA in English.

Yes, there is not criteria for distance or regular course. Rather, the requirement for the same is percentage of marks in graduation.
