In civil services, you will have to take subject papers for IFS botany, zoology and biotechnology subjects are eligible. So, it does not matter in that case, in fact if are preparing side by side it will boost your preparation as subjectivity matters.

Both the courses have their own scope as in biotechnology, you have chance to enter industrial field whereas in genetics, you have better chances to go in the research field. And both the fields are very promising in terms of career options because with anyone you can also pursue MBA depending on your interest.
