You can definitely pursue the BTech CSE course without giving the entrance test. There are several BTech in Computer Science Engineering colleges in India, out of which around 1,280 colleges give admission considering your Class 12 board exam marks. These colleges mostly take extra assessment rounds like the GD or PI for shortlisting the students.

Having said that, if you're aiming for the top-ranked colleges like the IITs, NITs, and IIITs, you need to give relevant entrance exams and get outstanding marks in the same to get a seat for the course.

To get an excellent score in any of the BTech CSE entrance tests, you should prepare really well and start your preparation as early as possible because there is cut-throat competition for this course among students, leading to high cutoffs. The exam question paper is also not that easy and requires you to have strong knowledge of the PCM subjects.

There are other parameters as well, based on which the exam committee sets the question paper for the BTech CSE course like last year's student feedback, the estimated number of exam applicants, and the availability of college seats. So, you should give your best.
