Let me give you an overview of placements for the year 2017 in Netaji Subhash Engineering College:
MECHANICAL: 10 PLACED
CIVIL: 10 PLACED
ELECTRICAL : 41 PLACED
ECE: Above 75% PLACED
CSE: Above 85% PLACED
AEIE: nearly 25
IT: Above 85% PLACED. This is the overview of major branches. Generally students were placed in software companies like TCS, IBM, Capgemini, CGI, SpiderTech, startups like NASSCOM, Baiju classes, Johnson Control etc. Few students got placed in management firms also. Overall placement is better as per the down falling market.
It depends stream wise. Like if you are in CSE then don't worry you have high chances of being place

Before answering about the placements let me make this clear that Hindustan Aviation Academy has stopped the B.Tech in aerospace course for a while but there is still a course which is one of the prestigious course in the aviation field and that one is Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME). According to surveys, it has been found that AME's are the highest paid engineers in India where the salary package varies form 5L - 25L per annum (varies with the experience). Heritage Institute of Technology comes under top colleges in West Bengal. CSE is one of the best branch of HIT, Kolkata. The placement scenario here is quite good. Heritage has an upper hand in terms of placement. The placements were pretty fine in last two years. Companies like TCS, mass recruits with an avg package of 3.75 - 4.00 LPA. Some students have also got a package of 6-7 LPA. Apart from on-campus recruits, students have also got a package of 20-22 LPA, off-campus. Placements for surface coating branch is also good as the number of students opting for placement is less than students who chooses for the higher studies. The percentage of placement of surface coating was almost 99% this year.

We have got average placements for chemical engineering department in VIT, Pune. Highest salary package was Rs 8 lakhs per annum last year (excluding IT companies). Average package is around Rs 4 to Rs 4.5 lakhs per annum. Some of the top notch companies coming for placements are NFL, Loreal, Alfa Laval, Techno force, Pernod Ricard, Praj, Emerson, Honeywell.
