Yes, you can appear in UPSEE B.Tech Lateral exam after completion of your Diploma course. Admission in B.Tech First year are given to students, who has completed 12th with PCM and obtained the rank in UPSEE.

AMIE of IIE is valid for government. Jobs only. Private IT companies does not recruits AMIE students and prefer to take freshers from regular mode students from UGC or AICTE approved Engineering colleges. However AMIE is very useful in upgradation of qualification and private companies considered this for promotion of their employees.
