In IIT, earlier, in the academic year 2016-17, the tuition fee for socially and economically backward students at the IIT was waived off. However, now, SC/ST/PH students shall get complete fee waiver. Students whose parents earn less than Rs 1 Lacs can get full remission of the fee. At some universities, you can only get a fee waiver for your first year of study. Although you'll need a smaller tuition fee loan with a fee waiver, you should apply for the full amount of tuition fee loan.
