Hello Rakesh,
Yes, Diploma holders are authorised to get admission in lateral mode in to 2nd year of engineering in any branch. However there are certain conditions to be fulfilled which are normally given by the Directorate of technical education of the concerned state. Here I would like to add that IIT do not accept lateral admission but have declared Diploma as equivalent to 12th and you can appear for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced to get into IIT.
Best wishes to you.

Candidates should have 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% for OC/OBC and 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 55% in case of SC/ST candidates in the qualifying degree. For PWD candidates, the eligibility criterion will apply to the category they belong to (OC/OBC/SC/ST). Based on the number of applicants applied the cutoff range for Dorms NIT Trichy varies every year. The expected cutoff are ( for General-80 and above, OBC-70 and above, SC/ST-65 and above). There are maximum possibilities for you to get a call from Dorms NIT Trichy Admissions.
All the best.

Yes, sure, 208 marks is good enough to get in any NIT. You can also go for top NITs.

First of all, it's better to get rank less than 5k as it's Amrita the most prestigious institution. It has more competition than other institutions.

Actually for B.Tech mechanical with JEE Mains score, it's sastra which offers good placements and education. But with your marks in JEE it's difficult in first stream. L. write board exams well and enter by that quota.

Can you specify which institute exactly you are talking about, and also your rank and category because these things matter.
