Q: Is DTU as good as an IIT?

A: DTU's B.Tech in Civil Engineering course has been rated 4.2/5 by 95 genuine Shiksha verified students, while the same course at IIT Delhi has been rated 4.6/5 by 41 students at Shiksha. Also, as per the NIRF 2022 Rankings, Delhi Technological University has been ranked 35 under the 'Engineering' category, however, there are 14 IITs that are ranked before DTU in the same category, such as IIT Madras, Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, and Guwahati, among others. But, despite that, DTU competes against the top-notch NITs and second-phase IITs in streams such as Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing. Hence, it is safe to say that DTU is as good as an IIT or an NIT.

Q: Is DTU private or government institute?

A: Delhi Technical University (formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering) has been established under the Government of Delhi in 1963. It is a state university and was affiliated with the University of Delhi from 1952 to 2009. In 2009, the college was given the status of 'University', thus changing its name to Delhi Technological University. DTU is counted amongst the oldest Engineering colleges in India. DTU established a new campus in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi named 'University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME)' in 2017. The new campus offers Management courses for graduation and post-graduation.

Q: Can I get into DTU without giving JEE?

A: No, candidates cannot get admission to DTU without appearing for JEE Main as the DTU B.Tech counselling is done through JAC Delhi. The basic criteria for admission to B.Tech is appearing for JEE Mains. To get into DTU, candidates must score decent marks or at least around 220 or above marks in JEE Mains. The only way to get into DTU without appearing for JEE Main is by taking a lateral entry admission to B.Tech second year. In order to do this, candidates must complete a Polytechnic course of two years and then appear for an entrance exam (not JEE Main but this exam will give you entry in DTU's second year.

DTU Admission Dates 2023

Delhi Technological University (DTU), which is well known for its BTech course, bases admission for BTech on JEE Main results, and JAC Delhi manages the entire counselling process. All other programmes at DTU need admission through national/university-level entrance exams, including UCEED, GATE, CAT, MAT, and CMAT. However, there are a few MBA-specific programmes and a BBA programme that give admission based on a previous qualifying test (undergraduate level), followed by an interview stage. Q: What is the latest cutoff information for B.Des at DTU?

A: Delhi Technological University (DTU) offers Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program in the field of Industrial Design. The admission to the program is done based on the candidate's performance in the UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) exam conducted by IIT Bombay.
The UCEED exam is conducted once every year, usually in the month of January. The cutoff for DTU B.Des program varies every year based on various factors such as the number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level of the exam, and the number of seats available for the program.
For the academic session 2021-22, the UCEED cutoff for B.Des program at DTU was as follows:
General Category: 16
OBC-NCL Category: 49
SC Category: 358
ST Category: 1004
Please note that the cutoff information provided above is for reference purposes only. The actual cutoff for the B.Des program at DTU may vary and depend on the factors mentioned earlier. Q: Can I get DTU with 80 percentile in JEE Main via JAC Delhi?

A: Usually, the cutoff for DTU stays around 90, even for the reserved categories. Therefore, getting into B.Tech courses at DTU is difficult with a JEE Main percentile score of 90 or below. The cutoff also goes high and low every year, depending on the following factors:
Number of aspirants registered, The difficulty level of the exam, Total number of seats available, total number of applications received for a particular program, and the category under which admission is sought. Therefore, it is very difficult to predict the exact cutoff and give an exact answer to this question.

Q: What is the fees for lateral entry B.Tech at DTU?

A: First of all, let's about the admission criteria for lateral entry in B.Tech CSE:
Is B.Tech open to lateral entry? -Universities and engineering colleges offer a lateral entry programme that allows students who have completed a 3-year engineering Diploma, a B.Sc. Degree, or an equivalent exam with at least 50% of the marks and Mathematics as a required subject in Class XII to be admitted directly to the second year. Now the fees per year for the next three years is ;
for 1st year : 2,19,000
for 2nd year: 2,29,000
for 3rd year: 2,36,000
Total fees is INR 6,84,000.

Q: Which BTech specialisation should I prefer at DTU- Software Engineering or Mathematics and Computing?

A: Your interest will determine this. Software engineering should be your first choice if you're interested in coding careers; but, if you're genuinely interested in mathematical coding, algorithms, and statistical analysis, mathematics and computer should be your first choice. Each branch has its own set of benefits and drawbacks. The Department of Computer Engineering is responsible for software engineering. The main focus of your four-year study schedule is software development. The curriculum has been upgraded and is regarded as superior than computer engineering. The DTU Department of Applied Mathematics is where mathematics and computing are housed. The course content is arranged so that students learn the necessary coding abilities as well as all the significant mathematical components of scientific inquiries. The course is quite challenging, and you'll be haunted by pure mathematics.

Q: Which college is better to pursue BTech in Mechanical Engineering- DTU or NSIT?

A: As confirmed by a final-year Mechanical undergraduate at DTU-Professors, academics, labs and everything else may be comparable but you aren't going to study all the time. So, when it comes to activities outside the classroom, DTU trumps NSIT easily. Be it curricular fests, sports activities, cultural societies, lenient environment, better infrastructure or even campus as a whole, DTU is far better than NSIT. And taking into consideration the reputation and demand of Mechanical, DTU's Mechanical Engineering stream trumps NSIT's. Even in the field of placements, companies prefer DTU over NSIT for the recruitment of Mechanical Engineering. NSIT needs time to set up its brand when it comes to Mechanicals. '

Q: Which is better for BTech in Electrical Engineering - VIT Vellore or DTU?

A: Both VIT and Delhi Technological University (DTU) are well-known for their Electrical Engineering programs. However, in terms of overall academics, campus facilities, and placement opportunities, VIT has an edge over DTU. VIT offers a state-of-the-art infrastructure with modern laboratories, well-equipped classrooms, and a dedicated library. The faculty at VIT is highly qualified and experienced, providing students with a strong foundation in Electrical Engineering. Q: Which of these is better: B.Tech in ECE from DTU or B.Tech in CSE from NIT, Warangal?

A: Both DTU and NIT Warangal are highly reputable institutions in India, and both offer excellent engineering programs. Choosing between B.Tech in ECE from DTU and B.Tech in CSE from NIT Warangal ultimately depends on your personal interests, career goals, and academic strengths. If you are interested in electronics and communication, and you SEE yourself pursuing a career in this field, then B.Tech in ECE from DTU might be a better choice for you. DTU has an excellent faculty and infrastructure for ECE, and the curriculum is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of electronics and communication.
