A performance score of both board exams and the Joint Entrance Examination-Attempt (JEE) Advanced is indeed the two-time criteria for final judgment entry regarding eligibility for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the coming academic year [2024].

Hello Shikhar Goel,  

Yes, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) has a defence quota for B.Tech admissions but Thapar Institute of engineering and Technology does not have the defence quota.

PEC has a defence quota for the children and grand children of freedom fighters as well as the children of serving or ex-serving defence personnel.

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology does not have any defence quota.

With 89% in Class 12, admission to NITs or IIITs depends on your JEE Main score and rank. While your percentage is good, securing a seat in top NITs or IIITs will depend on your JEE rank. You may have better chances in less competitive branches or institutes.
