B.Sc. in chemistry is 100 times better than B.Sc. biotechnology, although biotech has a great market abroad but in our country there is no particular job for this. You can go through biotech in M.Sc. if you want to be a biotechnologist, but I would suggest you not to take biotech.

Both the streams are equally good, opt for the one that you love the most and are most passionate about and analyze the future work conditions, scope and growth prospects before taking admission. B.Tech degree in biotechnology encompasses both the biological sciences as well as the engineering aspect of biotechnology. The B.Tech curriculum will cover life sciences subjects such as:
1. Microbiology.
2. Molecular biology.
3. Genetics.
4. Cell biology, etc. and engineering subjects like:
1.) Bioprocess engineering.
2.) Biochemical engineering.
3.) Thermodynamics.
4.) Mass Transfer, etc.
A BSc degree on the other hand focuses more on the biological sciences aspect of biotechnology. Yes, there will be a few subjects (1 or 2) related to industrial processes but the main emphasis will be on R&D in biological sciences fields such as:
