I am myself pursuing B.Tech in buotechnology. You can either take PCB or PCM in 12th grade and admission into colleges depends on their elligibilities. for pursuing it from IIT's or NIT's you have to clear JEE, so PCM is must. As a optional subject you can opt for biology or biotechnology, which will give you an idea. how the field would be in B.Tech and near future and help you decide whether to pursue B.Tech in this or not. It will also help you afterwards in your studies of engineering.

Hi I am myself pursuing B.Tech in biotechnology. It is a great field with emerging prospects, but, one needs a lot of patience and dedication. You have to be passionate enough to sway all odds that you face coz there is no end to learning in this field. There are very less jobs at graduate level and you ought to pursue a Masters in it for having a R&D job. Still various B2B and B2C companies may recruit you after your grad. Possibilities are endless if u do Your Masters from abroad. All the best !
