IIT Bhilai offers waiver in tuition fee to SC, ST, PH aspirants. Those students belonging to EWS category with family income of less than INR 1 Lacs get complete waiver in tuition fees. EWS category candidates with annual family income between INR Lacs and INR 5 lah get remission of two-third of tuition fees.

Students pursuing BTech and belong to SC/ ST category can apply for SC/ ST scholarship. Students are selected based on JEE for the first BTech semesters and last CGPA obtained by student in all other semesters. The students are required to maintain a CGPA of 6.0 or above in other semesters and should have no 'F' grade in previous regular semesters. The parental income should not exceed INR 4.5 lakh. Selected aspirants get free food and boarding as well as an allowance of INR 250 per month.

As per JEE Mains cutoff 2026, CSE was the most competitive specialisation under with the cutoff of 33903 whereas Civil Engineering was the least competitive branch with the cutoff of 83554 for General AI category for admission into BTech course at NIT Meghalaya.
