AME professionals are tasked with the maintenance of an aircraft, its parts and engines. As the name suggests, AME professionals have to deal with service and maintenance of aircraft and make sure that they are flightworthy. It is a technical training course (3 years long) that will help you acquire an aircraft maintenance engineer license (issued by the DGCA). The minimum eligibility criterion for getting admission into any one of the institutes is 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics.
AME has two major streams:
1. Mechanical- covering jet and piston engines, as well as light and heavy aircrafts.
2. Avionics- covering radio navigation, and electrical and instrument systems.
Career Prospects:
1.Aircraft maintenance engineers/mechanics can easily find jobs in aircraft manufacturing/maintenance firms as well as airports.
2.Students of AME course can also appear and qualify AMAeSI (Associate Membership of Aeronautical Society of India), which is considered equivalent to B.E. or B.Tech programme in Aeronautical Engineering by Government of India.
3.They can be engineers at Government organisations such as Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), Air India, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), BHEL, DRDO, Indian Air Force (IAF), Coast Guard and Airline industries.
4.Candidates who qualify AMAeSI are also eligible for M.Tech admission in IITs through GATE at colleges like Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi and Madras Institute of Technology.

If you love Mathematics, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) B.Maths is the right degree course for you. Admission in B.Maths is based on entrance examination conducted by ISI. Eligibility criteria to seek admission in B.Maths is 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects of study. Students who are Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) awardees of any previous year need not sit for the written test to seek admission in B.Maths and they would be directly called for interview.
