Marine engineering is a branch of Engineering that deals with nautical architecture and Science. The demand for Marine Engineers in public and private shipping companies has risen sharply, with the increase in international global sea traffic. BE in Marine Engineering / Nautical Science is the basic qualifications to become a Marine Engineer. The minimum educational qualifications for pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or Nautical Science is plus two or equivalent with 60% marks in Science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Es. There are many people trying for an engineering degree over a law degree. The following point has been stressed upon very well in movies like 3 Idiots but I'll repeat anyway. Do what you love to do. It will help you in the long run. Remember it is always better to be an excellent civil engineer than being an average law professional.

The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a Central University, that was established by by GOI in 2008. It is the only university in the country imparting education in the maritime field. It has an All-India jurisdiction and the headquarters is at Chennai. It has campuses at Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Cochin and Kandla Port. It conducts Join Entrance examination for admission to various Maritime courses for its affiliated colleges. You can chose among Diploma/ Graduation courses among Nautical Studies, Marine Engineering & Technology, and Naval Architecture. Merchant Navy is a high paying job.
