MBA is two years course in majority of universities in India. Syllabus includes basics of finance & accounting in first year and electives on financial management in the second year of studies.

First top 50 B-schools of India do not use MAT score. Therefore, if you only appear for MAT, you will miss the opportunities to do MBA from top B-schools and it may impact your long term career aspirations.

I don't think choice of books should be a matter of concern. You should pick any book that covers entire course.

If you are from a general category, you have to get minimum 98.5 or above percentile for top 5 IIMs. Precisely, telling for IIM A, B, C you need to have 99+ or above percentile. Otherwise, it is very difficult to get a call. You may get, if you have excellent academics and work experience.

Hi,
You can appear in CAT 2016. I would suggest you to take CAT 2016 this year. Any graduate candidates with a Bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks are eligible to apply for common admission test.

CAT, MAT, XAT etc are entrance examinations conducted by various institutes for admission for their MBA programs. CAT is a national-level MBA entrance examination conducted by the IIMs. MAT is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by AIMA. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is national-level pen and paper based management aptitude test conducted by XLRI. Symbiosis does not take students from CAT. .you have to appear for SNAP . For SIBM pune if your are general you will need around 98+ percentile. .and for SCMHRD Pune something around 95+ percentile (for safe side) . All the best :)
