Hello, From here http://bit.ly/2HxUej2 you can check the detailed eligibility criteria required to appear in the JAM Exam. JAM Exam is one of the toughest exams conducted in India. So, if you are planning to appear in the exam then, you must study well. IIT JAM 2019 Exam will be conducted in the month of February 2019. So, you have enough time left for the preparation. You will not be able to get any purely government colleges. I would suggest GSITS-Indore in the college level Counselling after the JOSAA counselling that happens in the mid of July. Though, no official notification comes, you need to stay alert for it. Or, you can get into big private universities, which have their own entrance exams. Recommendations be LPU, AMITY UNIVERSITY, CHITKARA UNIVERSITY, MANIPAL UNIVERSITY, VIT etc. Best of luck.

If you want to join a course in biotechnology you must have a background in Science, that is Physics or agriculture, chemistry and biology at the intermediate level can join for B.Tech. I think you may try but chances are less because most of the universities/institutes require that the candidates should have at least five years of experience as an executive or an administrator in a commercial/government establishment/registered organization after passing the Bachelor's degree examination.

You should drop if you think after appearing for the exam next year, you will clear it.
Although dropping a year is a good idea if you focus only on studies the whole year continuously, regularly and consistently.
