Hi Aswin, scope is immense. It is suggested you plan for a Masters for better scope and pay. Biotechnology students can expect a starting salary of Rs.10k which might go upto as high as Rs.50K a month and even higher. Regarding jobs you will find options in the private sector as well as government. You can choose to work as a Scientist or Research Assistant, Academicia etc and/or get into different jobs through the exams conducted by UPSC and SSC.

Hi Nishant, BCA and B.Com are completely different fields. After BCA you start off as a programmer in the field of IT or ITES. You can get jobs in companies as programmer, system administrator, software development and design. You may either pursue MCA after BCA or can also change field to Management or pursue MS from abroad.
B.Com is a traditional field opted by students who want to pursue MBA or CA. Job prospects after B.Com are lower than BCA unless you are pursuing from top colleges of Delhi, Mumbai university.
