Industrial Chemistry is the branch of chemistry which applies physical and chemical processes towards the transformation of raw materials into products that are of benefit to humanity. The Industrial Chemistry graduate is a chemist with knowledge linkages in engineering, chemical processing, economics and industrial management.
Applied Chemistry is the scientific field for understanding basic chemical properties of materials and for producing new materials with well-controlled functions. Currently, as the human society is more complicated, the research fields of Applied Chemistry are expanding to a wider range. To name a few, it will make our society sustainable to create clean and benign materials using energy-saving methods without destroying the natural environment, and incurable diseases will be prevented by new medicines and medical technologies that we can develop. Our department of Applied Chemistry includes chemistry, engineering, physics, earth science, biology, medical science, pharmacy, and so on.
Pure Chemistry like the way it is termed, refers to the study of only pure theory of chemistry, e.g. Organic Chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, Physical chemistry etc. Mostly, one's aim is to seek more answers to academia questions and to enlarge the pool of information that previous chemists already have at hand.

Applied chemistry, is often the bridge between chemistry and chemical engineering (large scale-process industries). Not only is it a study on the basic chemistry principles (organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry), it is also the study of analytical instruments and apparatus used in industrial work. More often than not, it is also the study of plant-based work, e.g.how does a heat exchanger work? How do we utilize the HPLC to the fullest.
There is only a fine line that divides pure chemistry and applied chemistry.

For pursuing a course in engineering you should have Maths as compulsory subject in 10+2. With a PCM combination of subjects, you can pursue almost any field you set your mind on. You can ofcourse do Engineering which is a professional degree and has streams such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic and Communication etc. You can do your graduation in subjects of your interest, even switching to Humanities or Commerce streams if you so desire.
You can also opt for courses outside the university stream, such as hotel management, fashion technology, industrial design, packaging, aircraft maintenance engineering, government accredited computer courses and a host of post 10 + 2 level vocational courses.
Also BCA (Computer Applications), BBA (Business Administration), Law, Civil Aviation – Pilot, Astronomy, Architecture, Design, Mass Communication, Merchant Navy, Defense Forces, Psychology, Civil Services etc. To decide on the course, you should analyse your strengths, career goals, interests, personality, aptitude and ability. If you decide based on these parameters you will put in your best effort and will be successful in your chosen field.

Yes, Arihant along with Aakash study material are a good set of questions. Also, you must read the newly released Pradeep's encyclopedia for JEE Mains and Advanced. It was just released last year. Although, I initially looked the book with scepticism on being recommended that book add the Publisher was only famous for school level books before this book arrived, I later found out that this book is the best written book I have every read. The theory is extremely well presented and all the questions are solved . I got a rank less than 300 primarily because of they book. You can try Arihant' s book for maths by SK Goyal.
