The Civil Services Examination (IAS) is considered as one of the toughest and the most prestigious examinations conducted in India. The syllabus is widely extensive and you need to focus on all the subjects equally. The written exam consists of 2 sections; prelims and Mains. Hi Himanshu!
To appear for an IAS I.e, for civil services examinations, you need to be a graduate. The field of graduation does not matter, but your performance in the entrance exam does. So you can opt for any stream for your Bachelors degree.

There is no such specifications to choose the right stream. Any stream can give you chances to write or qualify for an IAS. In general, Arts/Humanities could be the suggested stream to study in and it will help you during your IAS preparations.

Hi, The Central government appoints collectors in each district for handling various administrative purposes in a district. They are the highest government officials in a state. Candidates who aspire to become a collector should qualify the civil services exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Yes, you can give multiple attempts of IAS exam. The number of attempts depends on the category you belong to:
General Category: 6 attempts till 32 years of age.
OBC: 9 attempts till 35 years of age.
SC/ST: unlimited attempts till 37 years of age.
