IAS is the Indian Administrative Service while IPS is the Indian Police Service. Union Public Service Commission in India conducts examinations for both IAS and IPS. An IAS personnel handles governmental affairs and are absorbed in the administrative setup, while IPS are personnel that take up the challenging responsibility of maintaining law and order in the society.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is a civil services exam conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC). It is one of the toughest competitive exams in India. To be eligible to apply for the IAS exam, a candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university and should not be more than 30 years of age.
