Yes, the UPSC IAS 2022 vacancies were increased to 1022 (revised again). It now includes 150 vacancies in Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) which is recently notified as a Group A service. Earlier this number was less than one thousand. SEE here for details about the UPSC IAS vacancies. The candidates should note that the final result for the IAS 2022 exam will be declared for 1022 vacancies. The Commission is expected to release the final IAS 2022 result in the last week of May 2023. In the year 2023, over 11 hundred vacancies have been notified.

IAS prelims 2023 will be conducted on May 28 at the designated exam centres across the nation in offline mode, There will be two papers in the prelims exam. The IAS prelims result is prepared on the marks secured in the General Studies Paper 1 provided the candidate secure the qualifying marks (33 per cent) in the General Studies Paper 2 (CSAT). The IAS 2023 admit card is expected soon because the Commission is expected to release the IAS admit card anytime now. The IAS admit card is an authorisation letter which authorises the candidates to appear in the exam.

B.Sc (Hons) (Computer Science) have more scope than B.Sc (Hons) (Mathematics). Job opportunities are more in CS than Mathematics. Also final year mathematics is quite tough compare to final year of B.Sc (CS)

IAS is the highest service in India where as the PCS works in a particular state only. PCS is the highest state controlled service in a state recruited through the State Public Service Commission, while IAS is controlled by the Union Government of India though the salary is provided by the states and they have the power to suspend the IAS officer. PCS can become IAS officer after a certain period of service and subject to the result of interview conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

The candidates should note that the PCS officers are recruited through the UPPCS exam and the educational qualification required to become a PCS officer is a graduate in any discipline. Some posts in UPPCS exam required additional educational qualification, which is mentioned in the official notification. There is no minimum percentage required to fill the UPPSC PCS application. The Commission provides a level playing field to all the candidates.

No, the UPPSC is the name of the state commission that is Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) and PCS means the Provincial Civil Service. The PCS is the name of top service in the state (after IAS). The PCS officers are posted as SDM, Project Director and the likes. The PCS officers are only second to the IAS officers posted in the state. The PCS officers are eligible for promotion to the IAS cadre subject to certain conditions.

The State PCS Officers can be promoted to the IAS subject to certain conditions laid down by UPSC. Every year, out of the total vacancies of IAS (in a state), 33% is filled through the promotion. The minimum years of service is 12 years. Only after completing this much years in service, the candidate become eligible for such promotion. The UPSC will form a Committee for the promotion in the Chairmanship of UPSC member. States Chief Secretary will also be the member of that Committee.
