No,  GATE is not compulsory and is only one of the criteria for admission. Aspirants with a valid UGC NET/CSIR NET can also apply. Candidates without any valid national-level exam score can also appear for the written test conducted by the institute.

 The total seats available across varied courses (excluding MA, PhD, and Certificate) sums up to nearly 666. Seat allotment for each course is carried out in accordance with the seat intake. Moreover, statutory and legally mandated reservations will be followed as per Government of India orders from time to time.

The application fee for MS by Research/ PhD is INR 200 and INR 100 for General/ EWS/ OBC/ OBC (NCL)/ Transgender/ Foreign Nationals and Women/ SC/ ST/ PD, respectively. JEE application fee for boys is INR 1,000, INR 800 for girls, and INR 500 for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender category students. Candidates applying for MTech, need to pay GATE application fee for boys, which is INR 1,700, INR 850 for girls, and INR 850 for SC/ST/PwD category students. Only after the payment of application fees, the form is successfully submitted.
