At the postgraduate level, the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur offers M.Sc. In Applied Geology. Yes, IIEST Shibpur is good for a Master's degree in Geology as the college is a well-ranked one. The placements offered here are also great. Admission to M.Sc. That depends on your goal and your area of interest. If you want to get a good placement in IT industry then Electrical engineering will be a good option as it is a circuital branch.

For metallurgical Engineering NIT is the best if we check placements then you will find that NIT is better than IIEST Shibpur. For further studies, the best NIT colleges are NIT Durgapur, NIT Warangal, NIT Rourkela, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Karnataka, NIT Jaipur. Best of luck for your future.

No, he can't sit in the placement drive of the CS, they ask only CSE and IT to sit in their campus round and somewhere ECE also but not the metallurgy student.
You can definitely go to software job if you'll have that potential to maintain both metallurgy and coding part that is you'll have to maintain both your GPA along with the coding and other skills necessary to get into software field do start learning different coding languages
