In this year Jee advanced paper, I got 220/366 and my IIST rank came to be 212. And guess what, I was getting all the streams. My advanced rank was in 3924. So if the Jee advanced paper is as easy as this year, you need to score more than 210 to get a stream in IIST. And if the paper was as difficult as in 2016, then you will have to get above 130.
So as you can see, it depends on the difficulty of your paper! So I can say, practice hard, do good! Try to bring your rank below 8000 in Jee advanced! Then there might be a chance!

There are several reasons for the same. Different specializations are offered to students depending upon the stream they want to opt for. For example- In CSE, they offer cybersecurity, IoT, data Science, machine learning, and many more. Moreover, they give you the option for pathway elective that whether you want to be in the corporate sector, higher studies, Government Job, or entrepreneur. In addition to it, the classes you have to attend regularly. They did not compromise with the academics of the students. If any faculty is on leave, the classes are either adjusted or makeup lectures are planned. The University also provides the option of credit transfer and international exposure to its students. If I talk about the placements, the preparation for placements starts from the very first year.
