Some of the things that students can do on the weekends as a student at UCSD are:
- Keep your mind sharp by jogging on Blacks Beach and hiking Torrey Pines
- Go to Downtown as there are various clubs and bars
- Take a stroll at UTC mall with friends
- Café Sevilla has a great Bachata and Salsa scene, so one can go there over the weekends too
- One can also go for Scuba diving

For the majority of its programs, Otago Polytechnic uses a rolling admissions procedure, accepting applicants all year round.
