If you have Punjab quota, then you have 90% chances to get it.
As per second cut-off list there is quite decrease in the cut off rank/marks.Try till second in-person counseling.
It's bit difficult if you are from outside Punjab.
Though try your best.
Best wishes.

Scholarships are based on your board score and JEE Mains rank as well. There are categories in which students are divided according to their board marks. Like, 95% marks and above, 90% marks -95% marks, 85% marks -90% marks. Then, in these categories students are arranged according to their JEE Mains marks. Number and fee concession varies in every category.

In 2018, it is almost INR 20 lacs (including hostel fees) for 4 years and fees goes on increasing every semester. There is no bar on increase in fees every semester. For more details, visit: http://www.thapar.edu/students/pages/fee-circular-and-fee-chart.

Fees of Thapar University is quite high. Almost INR 20 lacs for 4 years (including hostel fees).
Every semester, fees increases. Roughly, INR 4 lacs for 1 year is fixed. Now, it depends how much fees has been increased per semester. Every year fee structure is different. For more information: http://www.thapar.edu/students/pages/fee-circular-and-fee-chart.

Thapar University-Patiala has very good Placement record in CS dept. A separate Computer department is in process, which has almost all kinds of facility/course/labs related to computer. Average package of Computer Engineering in the year 2016 was around INR 8 Lacs per annum. The highest Package offered (Domestic) was INR 18.5 Lacs per annum (Wallmart and De Shaw) and international package was INR 32 Lacs per annum. Companies like Microsoft, Deloitte, Amazon, Deshaw, etc. visited the university. Placement is almost 100 percent for Computer engineering branch. Studying COE/CSE in Thapar University is a boon itself. The only lack I feel

It depends upon your course/branch.
Like, if you are getting chemical in Thapar University and ECE/CS in Jaypee, then you should go with Jaypee.
Branch matters more than college.
Both are private universities.
If you want to pursue same course, then go for Thapar University.
Thapar University has good placement records and is old private university.
Even, it's NREF ranking is quite ahead of Jaypee.
Best wishes.

You should go for ECE at JAYPEE. Chemical in Thapar University is not so well recognized and even placements are not so good. ECE has more scope than chemical. Branch matters more than college. And, JAYPEE and Thapar has less difference now. Best wishes.

Hi Ishita,
Thapar is one of the best colleges in North India and getting CSE there is a big thing. Because there is a 50% quota for Punjab students which made it difficult for someone from outside Punjab with such a high rank. But there is a procedure that if you score a good GPA in the first year, you can apply for an upgrade and according to the merit, you will be upgraded.
All the best.
