Patna University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also accredited with B Grade by NAAC. The university has over 31 PG departments, 10 constituent colleges, and four institutes which provides UG, PG, PG Diploma and Certificate courses to the students across Social Sciences, Science, Education, Humanities, Commerce, Law, and other streams.

The eligibility for the B.Tech course in any of the college is that the student must have to pass his +2 or its equivalent degree from the recognised university or college. The admission process is that the student should appear for the entrance exam conducted by the government for the selection for eligible students by the merit list after the entrance exam. The student must pass the 10+2 to enter into the btech and the student must secure the marks if 35% in the entrance exam. The student must be from the mathematics physics and the chemistry background for the eligibility into the btech course
