The Department of Economics strictly adheres to the syllabus approved by Patna University, which is revised time to time. The latest revision of the syllabus was done in 2015.
The course offered by the Department is a regular Under-graduate course for a period of 36 months.
Admission in this programme is done through Common Entrance Test conducted by Patna University. Before PUCET, college entrance test was conducted.

The Department of Economics also runs a self financing three year vocational course – Bachelor in Business Administration.

Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) curriculum has been introduced in BBA programme since 2019. The course offered by the Centre for BBA is a self-financing programme for a period of 36 months divided into six semesters.

The eligibility criteria for admission in this course is Intermediate with 45% marks. There are 60 seats sanctioned for admission in this course. To maintain the transparency in admission process, centralised entrance exam are conducted by Patna University.

Admission in B.A. (Economics) and BBA is done through Common Entrance Test conducted by Patna University. Teaching is imparted through various modes such as Classroom learning, Group Discussion, Lectures through Power Point Presentation etc.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, online teaching method has also been adopted by the department so that the learning activities of students is not suffered. Remedial or extra classes are also conducted by the faculty members for the slow learners as a booster dose.

The teaching faculty members are also engaged in mentoring the students on academic and personal issues. Learning through e-resources are encouraged due to the changing nature of education system. Student-centric learning methodologies are used for enhancing learning experiences. Students are encouraged to collect data from various Government departments and organizations, do market survey and present the survey reports. Seminars and Webinars are also organized by the department to bring academic flexibility in students. Class tests, Quizzes and Sent-up exams are conducted for continuous periodical evaluation of the progress of students.

The Department of Economics is located in the main building of Bihar National College, Patna University at Ashok Rajpath. The aim of the department is to impart teaching to undergraduate students strictly adhering to the syllabus approved by Patna University. Along with this, the Department of Economics also runs vocational course: Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA). It was started in 2007. The Head of Economics Department is also the Co-ordinator of BBA course. The Department provides the facility of various classrooms equipped with ICT tools, departmental library, computer lab, washroom for boys and girls, drinking water facility etc.and the 

Our college does not provide placements for B.Sc students. Companies won't visit our college to recruit B.Sc students. Only a few students got placed in BCA and BBA courses. Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good.

The following is the fee structure for various courses at National Institute of fashion Technology Patna:-

• For B Des (fashion designing, fashion communication, textile designing, accessory designing) :- The total tution fees for this 4 year UG course is 12.34 lacs. 
• For BF Tech (appearal production) :- The total tution fees for this 4 year UG course is also 12.34 lacs. 
• For MFM :- The total tution fees for this 2 year PG course is 5.86 lacs. 
• For other 3-6 months certificate courses the total tution fees is around 26k.

There are many scholarships available for the students, by which the students can get some relief from the tution fees.
