Ranchi University was founded in year 1960 whereas Naxatra Institute of media Studies (NIMS BBSR) was established in the year 2009. NIMS claims the highest package of Rs. 12 Lacs and average package of Rs. 4.5 Lacs per annum. NIFR ranking of NIMS is 151. It has academic collaboration with various Indian as well as international universities. According to me, NIMS  has better placements specially in media studies. 

The application forms for various courses offered by Ranchi University usually come out in the official portal of the University. The dates concerning the release of application forms depends on the courses preferred. For any all India entrance exam based course, the forms are out generally after 3-4 weeks after the exam completetion. For other courses for which University conducts merit and entrance exams, the notification regarding it is sent 1-2 months beforehand in the official portal of the University. Candidates should regularly keep tabs on the official site to remain updated with the concerned dates. 

No, candidates cannot join Ranchi University directly. It's only after fulfilling the eligibility criteria of the particular course they can get admission in to this university. Most courses are entrance based and hence, this will require the candidate to appear in that particular exam. Admission will be based on the cut-off margins of the scores obtained in the exam. The candidates are required to then submit application forms into the official portal of the University along with the exam scores. Ranchi University offers both UG and PG courses and admission into these courses maybe entrance or merit based. Skill based courses like MBBS/BDS require NEET-UG scores and B.Tech requires JEE-Main or JCECE scores. M.Tech requires GATE scores followed by CCMT counselling. MBA requires CAT/MAT/CMAT/ATMA scores. Courses like B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing, LLB take admissions based on merits of previous qualifying exams. Admissions towards B.Ed courses are done by University conducted entrance exams. All other basic sciences and humanities courses, both UG and PG require CUET UG and CUET PG scores respectively. 

The placement cell of Ranchi University was established in 2010and has facilitated various recruitments by many prestigious companies like  Wipro, ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra, Concentrix, Vodafone - Idea, Bajaj finance, H.D.F.C Bank, British telecom, Liker fashion, Piramal Swastya, Chola Mandalam, Deccan iservices, Kotak Talent Academy, JSLPS, Medica Hospital and many more. The number of students placed through the campus interviews is increasing year by year.

Sure, a candidate can get admission to IIM Ranchi MBA at 85 percentile, if he/she is not a general category candidate. The IIM Ranchi qualifying CAT cut off for 2023 batch for reserved categories was between 40 percentile and 74 percentile. For general category candidates, the qualifying cut-off for IIM Ranchi MBA was 92 percentile.
