The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at BIT Mesra was established in the year 1983 and is now recognised as one of the leading departments with infrastructure and facilities to match the very best in the country. The department remains committed towards its mission, which is twofold. One is to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and problem solving skills in Computer Science required for a fulfilling career. The other goal is to create and disseminate knowledge to improve Computer Science research, education and practice. The department has academic collaborations with University of New Brunswick, Canada, University of Melbourne, Australia and University of Manitoba, Canada.

At BIT Mesra, the Department of Remote Sensing was established in 1997 with an aim to meet the increasing demand for qualified manpower in this rapidly developing field. Application of Remote Sensing / Geoinformatics techniques using tools such as Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) in various activities including resources evaluation, environmental monitoring and land use/land cover mapping etc. , has grown considerably during the last few decades and RS data products are increasingly being used for plan formulation at all levels. An essential pre-requisite to partaking in these opportunities is the building of various indigenous capacities for the development and utilization of space Science and technology. Department of Remote Sensing is now a FIST-DST sponsored department and is also SAP (Special Assistance Programme) supported by UGC.

The department of Computer Science and Engineering at BIT Jaipur, which offers BCA has eight high-tech computer laboratories having over 400 machines of IBM, Compaq, Dell and HP connected to the latest state of the art servers and core i7/i5 desktops. With the objective of giving the students adequate practical exposure, the department has the latest versions of all required software. The software available for Computer Science courses are ESET, MS-Office, Windows Server 2012, Rational Rose, Oracle, Auto Cad, MATLAB, C, C+, Java, Python, PHP. The course curriculum and facilities are constantly updated to keep pace with the fast changes in technology. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty, qualified at M.Tech&Ph.D levels. Apart from the regular academics, department regularly organize summer schools and other training courses on the emerging fields of computer Science. Students are encouraged to participate in various conferences/workshops to understand and explore the new areas of research in various domain. The eminent academicians and technology experts are invited to deliver lectures on emerging concepts and technologies for updating the vision, knowledge and skill sets of the students and faculty.
