NIT Sikkim don't provide direct admission to any programme offered by the institution. The admissions are strictly based on national-level entrance tests like JEE Main, GATE, and IIT JAM. The institute may also conduct a written test and personal interview for further selection. As for the M.Tech programme clearing GATE exam followed by counselling is the process for admission.

NIT Sikkim accepts the GATE score, followed by the GATE CCMT Counselling process for the MTech admission. NIT Sikkim cutoff 2023 for M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is 423. The cutoff is for General category candidates in the All India quota at the National Institute of Technology Sikkim. For the OBC AI category, the cutoff was 377. This suggests that the cutoff for the reserved category typically goes lower than that of the unreserved category. MTech cut-off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.
