CTET Eligibility

According to the eligibility criteria, you are eligible to appear for CTET Paper 2 in social Science. The basic criteria are that you have completed your graduate degree and either a B.Ed. Or D.Ed. However, since you are a biology graduate, the social studies question may become a challenge in CTET Paper 2 and also while applying for a teaching post at the upper primary level, i.e., classes 6 to 8. In question paper 2, there are a total of five parts, out of which parts 2 (mathematics and Science) and 3 (social studies and social Science) are optional. You will be required to answer 60 questions from any one section as filled out by you in your online application form. Since you want to go for social Science, the questions will come from topics such as history, geography, social and political life, etc., which you might not have studied in depth. Also, during the interview, you will be asked why you chose social Science after doing a B.Sc. In Biology. Therefore, you are advised to select Mathematics and Science for appearing in CTET Paper 2.

Dear aspirant, Glad to meet you. Candidates should possess the minimum qualifications for the teaching staff in accordance with the following are eligible for appearing in the CTET:
National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) (Determination of Minimum Qualifications for Persons to be recruited as Education Teachers and Physical Education Teachers in Pre-Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary, Senior Secondary or Intermediate Schools or Colleges) Regulations. Minimum educational qualifications as laid down in the Recruitment Rules for the teachers by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and other schools. Candidates should satisfy their eligibility before applying for the exam as they are fully responsible in case they are not eligible to apply as per the given CTET eligibility 2022. If a candidate has been allowed to appear for the CTET 2022 exam, it does not imply that his or her eligibility has been verified. The eligibility will be finally verified by the concerned recruiting body or school.

As per CTET eligibility criteria 2022, candidates who wish to become government school teachers of classes 1 to 5 must at least fulfill one of the following educational requirements. A candidate must have passed class 12th with at least 50% marks and must have passed or must be appearing in the final year of a 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education
or
Passed class 12th with at least 50% marks and must have passed or appearing in the final year of a 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. or
At least 50% marks in class 12th and must have passed or must be appearing in the last year of a 4 year Bachelors in Elementary Education ( B. El. Ed. )
or
50% marks in class 12th and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2 year Diploma in education (Special Education)
or
Graduation with 50% marks or more and a Bachelors in Education ( B.Ed. ) degree.
Note : A candidate who has a B.Ed. from any NCTE recognised institute will be considered for appointment as a primary school teacher provided that he or she undergoes a bridge course in Elementary Education within 2 years of his or her appointment. Hope it helps.
