Yes, candidates seeking admission to design courses at the Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) need to appear in the IIAD entrance exam. Qualifying exam scores will only be used as a qualifying criteria, and not for preparing the IIAD merit list.
Candidates who plan to get admission to the institute need to apply online. Note that applications ubmitted via offline mode will be rejected.

IIAD 2026 exam will be conducted for admission to BA (Hons) Fashion Design, BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design, BA (Hons) Communication Design, BA (Hons) Fashion Business Management, and BA (Hons) Fashion Communication courses.
The candidate can select their programme of study when filling out the application form. Note that IIAD application will open in online and offline mode.

Aspirants who are Class 12 or equivalent pass can visit the Pearl official website to apply. Applicants further have to appear for the Pearl Academy Entrance Exam. After result declaration, shortlisted candidates have to go through interview round and a portfolio presentation. Following this, the final selection is done and candidates can pay the required fee amount for admission confirmation.

To get admission in a BDes course of Pearl Academy Mumbai, aspirants are selected based on performance in the entrance exam conducted by the academy. IIAD Exam will have subjects like Logical Reasoning and Creative Thinking & Visual Aptitude. Question paper will include questions from Logical Reasoning and Creative Thinking & Visual Aptitude sections. Candidate will have 30 minutes to complete Logical Reasoning section. For the Creative Thinking & Visual Aptitude section, candidate will have 2 hours.
