Both the IGNOU and KKHSOU, Assam are recognised distance learning universities but IGNOU holds a little more recognition than KKHSOU. While IGNOU has over 3 million students in its fold, KKHSOU has only one Lacs students. While IGNOU has much more diverse programmes – more than 200 courses are available, KKHSOU has approximately 50 courses. Moreover, IGNOU established a larger network of the study center consisting of over 3000 study centers in whole of the India as compared to KKHSOU having merely 500 study centers.
