There are no such strict age criteria for pursuing BTech in correspondence mode in India. But, taking into consideration the previous admission trends in distance BTech courses, students are usually between 17 years and 25 years of age at the time of taking admission.
Some universities may have certain age requirements for admission, it is not very common though. If you are a bright student with a good academic record and have successfully secured at least 50% marks in Class 12 board exams, you can apply for distance BTech degree courses.

The main reason why candidates prefer pursuing a distance course is the level of flexibility these courses offer. You are provided the study material online through which it becomes easy to pursue education even in another city. These programs are budget friendly which allow candidates to study the course without worrying about the fees. Also, candidates receive their degrees without physically attending the colleges.

Full time courses are referred to the proper classroom studying where students physically attend the campus. While distant learning can be done from another city while saving your time and are comparatively budget friendly, where all the study material is provided online to the candidates and they can study as per their comfort.

No, you cannot switch from regular BTech programme to distance mode as the government of India does not allow BTech courses to be offered in distance learning mode. Distance BTech is not allowed as it lacks practical training and lab work.
