Candidate can directly apply to Madras University (Institute of distance Education) from the official website. Candidate have to provide requisites as mentioned there 10+2+3 or equivalent exam results from recognised institutes. Also candidate must have good score on entrance exams such as the TANCET, CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, or ATMA.

The distance MBA programme offers flexibility to the students as remote MBA classes are delivered in a hybrid format and students may be required to visit the institute or centres during the weekends. On the other hand, online MBA is completed purely online with no requirement to visit the classes.

The following are the minimal scores usually required to be admitted to Madras University Distance Education (IDE) MBA programs for the 2023 batch:
- The educational prerequisite is a bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 50% (45% in reserved categories).
- Minimum 70 percentile for CAT/XAT, 65 percentile for CMAT, 55 percentile for MAT, and 65 percentile for ATMA
