Here are two things to keep in mind:
The problem reading time must be reduced. You should be able to read a question and translate it into variables and/or diagram/equation at one shot. Most students read a question slow/multiple times with an intrinsic fear of getting it wrong otherwise. Practice reading fast. We seldom realize that toppers save half the time in reading and understanding the questions faster than others. The problem solving time can be reduced. Shortlisted candidates will be called for group discussion and personal interview based on score/ percentile obtained in CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ GMAT.
Final Selection:
Candidates are selected based on score/ percentile in CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ GMAT and performance in group discussion & personal interview. Due weightage is given to past academic achievements and work experience respectively, apart from the above-mentioned parameters. Selection parameter and weightage:
Score/ percentile in CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ CMAT- 50%
Group Discussion - 10%
Personal Interview - 15%
Work Experience, Sports & Extra Curricular Activities- 5%.

It completely depends upon your preparation for the Exam. I won't say tough, as every year many students clear this exam. I will describe CAT exam as one of the most justified competitive exam in India. If you prepare yourself better, then you will have a better life in future.

Hi, CAT is required for management studies in India, it is not for job purposes, neither India not abroad. If you want to study US or canada take SAT for Bachelor degree. You must also take IELTS. After completing studies you can work for a year or so.
