Good Duolingo English Test results are generally considered to be 110 or above, which describes upper-intermediate proficiency. A score of 120 or higher is considered an excellent score.

In the Duolingo English Test speaking section, you may get a wide range of topics. However, most of them will be related to real-life conversations. Some popular Duolingo speaking topics are related to work, day to day life, travel, the latest technology or current events going around the world. The Duolingo English Test's official website does not provide a list of speaking topics.

The estimation of subscores is done differently from that of the overall score. Both of these are weighted combinations of the questions, contributing to every score. Keep in mind that your overall score is not the sum or average of your subscores.
Also, the certified scores will be valid for two years. To secure your test's validity, make sure to send your scores through your online account only. In case you wish to re-attempt the same after obtaining a certified result, you are free to buy another test.

Test taker's proficiency will be reported as a holistic score on a scale of 10-160 in five-point increments. DET score scale is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), which is an international standard of language proficiency.
One can compare the CEFR levels of the Duolingo test with other tests of English proficiency such as TOEFL iBT and IELTS. The admission requirements of different universities are usually different. In order to get more clarity regarding the same, visit the individual websites of your target university.

The sample test is shorter only 15 minutes in comparison to the real DET test which is of 45 minutes. Candidates can get an estimated score from the sample test as from the sample test the result is derived from very few questions.
