According to DET test pattern, the duration is 1 hour which is divided in three different sections like mentioned below:
- Introduction - 5 minutes (You'll be introduced to the test interface and instructions.)
- Adaptive test - 45 minutes (The main section of test)
- Writing and speaking sample - 10 minutes (You'll get different prompts to write and read)

There is no any specific syllabus for Duolingo English Exam. It is an adaptive test. DET assesses your listening, writing, speaking and reading skills. How much time will it take to prepare for exam depends on your current English proficiency level. To prepare from beginning you need at least 2 months.
