East Tennessee State University is a member of the NCAA Division I in all sports except football, which is Division 1-AA. Intercollegiate and intramurals sports programs are available at the university. The sports for men are basketball, baseball, cross-country, football, golf, tennis, etc. Whereas, sports for women are cross-country, basketball, golf, tennis, etc.

ETSU is a public university located in Northeast Tennessee. It is a state-supported, co-ed institute. Its main campus is located in Johnson city with centers in Kingsport and  Elizabethton and a site in Bristol. The total student population at the university is over 11,000. In the context of international students, there are over 600 international students at the university. Over 170 academic degree programs are offered by the university.

There is one main campus of East Tennessee State University. This main campus is located in Johnson City, Tennessee. Apart from this, there are some regional off-campuses of the university namely as Kingsport Allandale Campus, Kingsport Downtown Campus, and Sevierville Campus. Other off-campus sites are located in Abingdon and Asheville. The main campus of the university is a short drive to various thriving mountain town including Bristol, Kingsport, and Jonesborough.
