Yes, GATE is for pursuing pursue Masters in the same branch which you opted in B.Tech. So, you can take GATE for EEE branch only.

In ECE, you get to study about the basic electronics initially with networking and fundamentals of communication. You can go through some industrial training to enhance your skill and gain some practical experience. Then, it will be easy to get a core job profile. You can get a job in top MNCs. IT sector is also hiring EEE people. You can change your interest from core to IT. Even you can be teacher in good colleges.
