Admission to the course is based on the rank obtained in the UPES-EAT JEE Main etc. And performance in personal interview. For IITs, it is mandatory to qualify the Joint Entrance Examinations (J. E. E) for admission. Even though every institute follows a unique selection process, most of them accept the scores obtained in the relevant entrance tests. Colleges generally admit students based on performance in the entrance exams and in personal interviews. Regards.

If you think you will achieve your goal after a drop then you should go for it. But if you have doubt about it, then you should not take the risk. And if you are getting Thapar, then go for it. Its fee is lesser than UPES and it has good placements as well. Thapar has its own reputation. After Thapar, I will prefer UPES.
