11th marks will not matter for admission into engineering courses but 12th board marks will matter. So try to get the maximum that you can in 12th boards. Bits pilani even offers direct admission to state or centre board toppers.

You should appear in JEE exam to get admission in TOP IITS and NITS.If you get good rank in JEE then you can choose mechanical engineering seat in these colleges.
Now many top other university is also accepting the JEEmain score for admission.

It does not matter where do you work. Interview board looks at relevance of earlier work experience. If you can showcase your industrial learning and its relevance to management field , you stand good chance of admission in a good institute.

You have following options to become Mechanical Engineer (a) BTech / BE Mech in a Engineering college (b) Diploma in Mech Engineering then lateral entry into BTech second year (c) AMIE Engineering degree by self education . You may chose option based on your personal conditions.
