When two candidates score same marks in JEE Main, the NTA resolves tie by giving weightage to candidates haveing the highest marks in Maths>Physics>Chemistry. In case ties still persist, the weightage will be given to candidates with less incorrect questions in subjects in the same order.

When it comes to customizing the syllabus for B Tech in IT, you can always find some scope in the elective subject choices that you choose based on your interests. Every college give you a plethora of elective options to choose from.

On the contrary, the core subjects are compulsory for you to study with zero scope for customization as they are meant to give you a strong base for IT-related concepts for you to become well-equipped and job-ready for the future.

Most of the top-ranked colleges in India give admission to BTech IT on the basis of relevant entrance exam scores. You need to appear for exams like JEE Main, MHT CET, KCET, etc., and get excellent marks in the same to grab a seat at a popular college.
Having said that, there are more than 400 BTech Information Technology colleges in India that give admission considering the Class 12 board exam marks. A few colleges may also give 50-50 weightage to both the factors.
So, you must go through the official websites of the colleges you are planning to apply to and check their admission process and selection criteria.

Yes, of course. You can get lateral entry admission to the BTech Information Technology course if you have a 3-year engineering Diploma in a relevant course with at least 50% marks in the final exams. The lateral entry provision allows you to directly enter the 2nd year of the BTech IT course and complete the degree in 3 years. Colleges like Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (Noida) and Lovely Professional University offer lateral entry to the BTech Information Technology course.
