If you are getting CS in KIET, that's great go for it. The placement is good there. But if you are taking core branch then all the colleges are of same level. If you are an GATE aspirant, then there are many courses as well as job opportunities you can go for if your rank is below 100 (open category) and rank below 1200 and 2000 (SC and ST ) category then you can go for various PSU if you score good you can even go for M.Tech from IITS, NITS, IIITS etc. in various courses.

GATE is one of the top most exams to get admission in Top NITS and IITs for higher education like (M.Tech). You can also opt different job in PSU Sector by securing good marks in GATE. The GATE exam is of 3 hours duration and contains 65 questions with 10 general aptitude questions worth a maximum of 100 marks, carried out in an online Computer-Based Test mode. The questions comprise both multiple-choice questions and numerical answer type questions.

Around 70 marks will be safe option if you are from general category

Basically it fluctuates year to year. As per the latest information, The cut off needed for M. Tech in Material science and engineering is 509 in GATE exam.

COE Trivandrum M.Tech and M.Plan admissions are based on a valid score in GATE.
