The exam body conducts the VSAT exam in English medium only. All questions, including comprehension and reasoning, are framed in English. Students must be comfortable with English to interpret and respond to the questions accurately.

The qualifying mark vary each year based on difficulty level and number of applicants. In VSAT, however, there is no fixed cut-off, but candidates must score competitively to qualify.

The difficulty level of VSAT exam is considered easy to moderate level. It is same as to school board exams or entry-level engineering entrance exams like COMEDK or SRMJEEE. The level of questions are based mainly on NCERT topics, hence, if candidates are preparing for the exam by referrring to the NCERT books, they have an upper edge over the competition.
