What is GUJCET?

Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET), is the entrance exam conducted to shortlist candidates for admission to BTech and BPharma programs offered by various colleges in Gujarat. The exam is conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB). GUJCET is a state-level entrance examination. The allotment of seats is done on the basis of scores obtained in the examination.

What's new in the GUJCET Exam?

As per the official announcement from the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board last year, two new changes were brought in GUJCET. They are as follows:

  • Marks in subjects other than Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in class 12 will also be considered for preparing the GUJCET merit list.
  • Out of the total seats in government colleges, 5 percent of seats will be filled through JEE Main 2024 score while the remaining 95 percent of seats will be filled through GUJCET 2024

Q:   What is the percentage required for GUJCET?

A:

The minimum percentage required in class 12 for GUJCET is 45%. Candidates belonging to reserved category need to have 40% in class 12. Candidates applying for GUJCET need to check complete GUJCET eligibility criteria before filling the application form. Other conditions of GUJCET eligiblity like age limit, subject combination and domicile also need to be fulfilled to fill GUJCET application form. It is to be noted that candidates who do not meet the GUJCET eligiblity criteria will not be considered for admission.

Q:   Can other state candidates apply for GUJCET exam?

A:

GUJCET exam is only open to candidates who are domiciled in the state of Gujarat. Therefore, candidates from other states are not eligible to apply for the GUJCET exam.

However, if you have moved to Gujarat from another state and have been residing in the state for a certain period, you may be considered a domiciled candidate of Gujarat and would be eligible to apply for the GUJCET exam. In such cases, you would need to provide proof of your residency in Gujarat.

Also, candidates who have passed class 12 in Gujarat can apply for GUJCET exam.

Q:   Is GUJCET very hard exam?

A:

GUJCET is considered to be a moderate exam in terms of difficulty, and its difficulty level is similar to that of class 12 board exams. The exam tests a candidate's understanding of the concepts and their ability to apply them to solve problems.

It's important to note that merely memorizing concepts won't help in scoring well in GUJCET. Instead, candidates should focus on understanding the underlying principles and formulas to be able to apply them effectively.

Additionally, previous year's question papers and sample papers can be very helpful in getting a feel for the types of questions that may be asked and how to approach them. Candidates should also utilize online resources wisely to score high marks in the exam.

Overall, GUJCET is not an extremely difficult exam, but it does require dedicated studying and a thorough understanding of the subjects to perform well.

GUJCET 2024 Preparation Tips

Candidates preparing for the GUJCET 2024 exam can refer to the below-mentioned tips to prepare for the exam.

Prepare a Timetable: Based on the level of difficulty, candidates can set aside more time for certain topics. They should make sure that learning, practising, and revising are all part of the timetable. Candidates can improve their productivity and get ready for the exam properly by making a timetable and following it strictly.

Understanding the Concepts: Many students memorise the concepts instead of understanding the concept. This will not help them in applying the concepts in solving the numerical.  Candidates will have a hard time remembering the concepts for a longer period of time if they don’t understand the concept.

Make Important Notes: Students should develop a habit of making their own short notes chapter-wise while learning. These notes should include the important formulas and theorems. These notes will be very helpful for the final revision before the GUJCET 2023 exam.

Solve Previous Years’ Question Papers: Previous years’ question papers and sample papers are the best tools to score well in the examination. Practising the previous years GUJCET question papers will help to boost their confidence and speed of solving the questions. Additionally, it helps to find out the weaker areas which need more attention. Previous years’ question papers help to understand the type of questions and most repeated questions.

Use Online Resources: Nowadays, the internet is easily accessible for most students. Many study resources are available online for GUJCET. This includes answers to questions, mock tests, video lectures, etc. Students should make use of these resources wisely to score high marks in the exam. They should not waste their precious time by using mobile phones and playing online games. They should stay away from social media and TV.

Q:   In how much time can I complete the entire GUJCET syllabus?

A:

The time required to cover GUJCET syllabus would vary for every student however, to complete the entire GUJCET syllabus, students would require around 1 year. The ideal time to start preparing for GUJCET is class 12 as the syllabus for GUJCET and class 12 is similar. Students who are studying in class 12 can point out the topics that are common in both and pay special emphasis to that.
